●Alan Zhu
Picture Perfect
They say a picture paints a thousand words… But each verb I infer creates a thousand images to emerge So picture this, as I inscribe each letter into precision Sharp-witted with incision all placed in position Every sentence draws a point in life unseen before Illustrate poetry’s purpose and why the mass needs it more Some may be comical, but they all are depicted from the heart From the start, each word crafted is a finished form of art The way I write in the form of essays, poems, and lyrics Are all categorized as non-objective, abstract, and realistic Take it how you want to, my poetic sculptures all dominate Each meaning is synonymous to portraits the mind creates Put my verses upon galleries and get the same effect Underrated, misunderstood for conceptual creativeness My word is law…the reader is just waiting for the verdict Perfect the picture with my words when they are picture perfect
Just A Fable
We’ve always been told tales as kids to keep us stable It makes me wonder if the decency in mankind is just a fabl What’s the good in the morals that we’re informed? When we have alter egos to take up evil in our own forms? Nothing is pure, as stories tell to lure the child to sleep The flight of the imagination crashes with the plane view of reality The truth is the effect of the collision in return… The innocence as kids that we yearn for have shifted and turned But sometimes the legitimacy we witness becomes unbearable If only allegories were what was real and reality was the parable It’s a terrible pain to endure like the bleeding of flesh All we have left to believe in are dreams when we rest
The Confidence Factor
I never write to impress, no more, no less Never ignorant enough to claim to be the best There are those that say the best poems don’t rhyme, But until they see mine, they can never really tell Judge if you must, ridicule if you will But the more stress that I feel, the more work is fulfilled Never need to appeal, so there’s nothing to conceal
